shooting like a wild woman

i announced a photography & website package special (from R2500) about a week ago, and got eight clients on board! i've been shooting guest houses, farms and restaurants in the overberg - what a great experience. this week, i'm shooting two restaurants, a farmhouse, a luxury lagoon edge lodge and a hand-reared chicken farm! these are some pics from my shoot last week in baardskeedersbos.

epochal

In the straw-colored light
In light rapidly changing
On a life rapidly fading

Have you seen death singing
Have you seen death singing

With a throat smooth as a lamb
Yet dry as a branch not snapping
He throws back his head
And he does not sing a thing mournful

Have you seen death singing
Have you seen death singing
Have you seen death singing
In the straw-colored light

He sings a black embrade
And white opals swimming
In a child's leather purse
Have you seen death swimming
Have you seen death swimming

With a throat smooth as a lamb
Yet dry as a branch not snapping
He throws back his head
And he does not sing a thing mournful

Have you seen death singing
Have you seen death singing
Have you seen death singing
In the straw-colored light

He sings of youth enraged
And the burning of Atlanta
And these viral times
And May ribbons streaming
And straw-colored curls a-turning
A mother's vain delight
And woe to the sun
And woe to the young
Another hearse is drawn
Have you seen death singing
In the straw-colored light

the life aquatic

i'd like to introduce you to the best video camera ever. it's a kodak playsport - and you can win it here on this very blog! let me tell you what's rad about it: you can swim underwater in a pool and film. it can mount on your bicycle and film. you can take it to the beach and film your friends swimming underwater. you can take it skiing down the alps (as you do). you can let the kids have fun with it, because it's designed to take a few knocks. you can quad bike with it in the dunes and film the totally retarded expression on your face. and you can send your vids to youtube/vimeo etc. it's actually just ridiculously awesome. this video camera has literally just inspired me to embark on an aquatic adventure, go diving and book a holiday in the french alps.

all you have to do is to tell me what you love about the camera (you're welcome to do a bit of research) and leave your name and email address here, in the comments section. happy holidays!

bird of creation

look what photographer mark lipczynski achieved by using toy and vintage cameras.

"The raven is considered a bird of creation - without the raven, humans would forever live in darkness. Native North American tribes saw the raven as the bringer of light. The southwestern tribes (Hopi, Navajo, Zuni) believe that the raven flew out from the dark womb of the cosmos, and with it brought the light of the sun." - The Beading Yogini

it's the second week of november and i have to let you know that because almost everything in my shop is handmade (besides for vintage), i can only take christmas orders until the end of november. so, if you want to buy your lady loves a bicycle basket or your moms a quilt, or your niece a felt cloud cushion and your mom-in-law ..ok, we won't go there, you'll have to order it by the last week in november! all vintage goodies can be posted 2 weeks before christmas, so if you were eyeing out a picnic basket for your holidays, soon would be a good time. have fun!
