chair junk

i'm all about collecting mismatching vintage dining chairs at the moment and have spied some gorgeous examples on etsy, under a 'vintage chairs' search. i've been given an 8 seater wooden dining table that i may paint canary yellow and paired with beauties like these, i can't go wrong. the only bother is that chairs are extremely expensive in cape town, even on gumtree they're at least r450 each....auctions here i come!

the photo album

i would've loved to have bought a copy of frankie magazine's 'the photo album' printed earlier this year. i love that frankie celebrates the beauty of normal and everyday things, which can seem so beautiful if captured in the right light, with a good dollop of artistry. i wish frankie would feature marietjies beautiful 'skermunkil' jewellery, especially as its her birthday today and it would make the best birthday gift ever! i'm off to brunch at marietjies place now so i hope you all enjoy your sundays and remember to take pictures :)

i just love cushions yet it's difficult to find ones i truly love but these bird cushions by denise of freshly found have stolen my heart! denise is a local blogger and conscious designer who breathes new life into things she finds. i hope denise will be selling them soon!

i've just checked my friend gina's blog and found that she's doing the awesome felting course at blossom, in kalk bay. i'm green with envy at her beautiful creations. i'm definitely signing up for the next one. are you with me?

i had to chuckle at the lovely carnival-folk emily from 'the black apple blog' has been painting, because i came across my 'myspace' profile (do you remember myspace?) recently, where i'd written that i predicted that the circus would feature prominently in fashion. that was about 5 years ago. finally i can feel like the cat that got the cream, finally i can feel like a trend forecasting sorceress. anyway, i love emily's style and i love that she loves the circus. you should follow her blog, she's incredible.
