loving my dresses

i've had dress fever lately and i'm loving my dresses from india jane, who stock my favourite local designers, 'coppelia,' 'miss moneypenny,' and 'i love leroy.' The only designer who has a website is "miss moneypenny," where you can view a range of their ever gorgeous dresses. 'i love leroy' are vintage and street inspired uber feminine yet edgy and coppelia has always reminded me of waifs and milk maids....

christmas

christmas under the willows

i had christmas with my maternal side of the family at my mother's hotel in the overberg, and then had quite a few friends and family round at my place on boxing day for another day of feasting! my mother gave me this gorgeous midwinter dinner service, amongst other things, for christmas! what a wonderful time...and now its back to work for me tomorrow!

tis the season

tis really is the season to be jolly, and there was no stopping the ridiculous fun at the tramps 'n tarts party my friends threw for us horsey lot. what a gas, and the themed dressing not only acted as an ice breaker, but actually got everyone into character, which was great fun to watch....especially when some people started giving lap dances to a poor unsuspecting father christmas, on a chair on the dancefloor.

christmas market

in the crowds, no one seemed to notice the siamese twins

...or did they?

the girls and i went down to the shindig at the old biscuit mill last night and saw how the professionals do it! most of my suppliers were there, trying to manage the streams of eager and manic buyers pouring through their tiny stalls. i wonder how many times heather had to explain how you peel off and transfer a wall decal?!!! what a party! i bought two vinyl chairs from charles and spied little retro coffee cups and saucers that belong to the coffee pot i've had standing all alonsies in my shop, so now it has found at least two more members of its family. i get really attached to some of my pieces and often get a pang of desperate attachment when handing them over the counter to their new owner...this might be one of them. the girls and i drank too much delicious wine, ate gourmet food, tried on dresses and belts at kirsty's stall, from the vintage store 'akimbo,' in simonstown, and at 'i love leroy' and 'coppelia,' who have been my favourite cape town designers since i was about 21. i couldn't believe my eyes when i saw the cuteness that is france's 'my china' ceramics who was selling next to her friend, marietjie, who creates the much loved hearts and birds necklaces and brooches that i stock at beatnik bazaar. i bought a cute wooden 'cut out' style tree, for some jewellery that i buy in the future and stocked up on more merry xmas cards from the flowermill stand.

obsession

after obsessing over phillipa's cuffs for years now, and never buying one, i now have 10...in the shop! they are so beautifully packaged too, in stunning black boxes with phillipa's name in silver. enjoy a drool......

handsome fellas

deco chairs and couch soon to be living in my room, pictured below~!

i spent the morning fetching phillipa green's exquisite cuffs from her rad studio in town today and dropped in to view an art deco suite i want to buy. the suite is so cute, i can't wait to have it decorated with skinny la minx cushions and show it off to everyone. i don't think i can part with this suite, it may have to be soneone's christmas present to me........anyway, after running 3 more errands i took over from my shop assistant and had a wonderful day at beatnik bazaar, including having a freelancer from another well known interiors magazine, drool over my stuff and she took pictures of the shop and told me that she was forwarding them on to the features editor. yay of yays! i will reveal the name when my stuff is in the mag fo sho!

luca

brothers

once in a while i brim over with love for my boys so much that i have to dedicate a blog post to them. my boys are luca, my son, elijah, my horse, magick, my wolf and fluffness, the family bunny. luca is just about the best son a mother could have. he's bright, has the most wicked sense of humour and style and is going to do something great someday, i can just sense it. elijah is my angel of a horse, a gallant black friesian steed, who takes me galloping in the mountains and walking through endless meadows of flowers. magick is my soul mate dog, my son that was raised by wolves and i never knew a human could love a dog as much as i do him. finally, there's fluffness, a shy guy who lives in my bedroom who was rescued from the jaws of hungry farm workers and given to me to raise as my own. i will be building him his very own fenced in home in the garden soon, i promise!

christmas market at the old biscuit mill

a candy coated day

today was just about one of the best days i've had, since yesterday! i arrived at the shop and received a call from top billing magazine, asking whether they could feature some of my things. they then collected about 6 or 7 items which will be in february's issue of the magazine, in the valentine's day gift spread section - watch out for it in january! then my enormously talented supplier who designs many things in my shop featured me on her blog and rounded off the fantastic day of sales just brilliantly!

kevin coldrey

my friend kevin who lives in the same valley as me, is not only an honours degree environmental economics graduate, but amazingly, he finds the time to be a soulful photographer. i asked him whether i could print some images onto canvas and frame others so he could find some exposure and so that we could experience the beauty....

where are all the pretty horses?

my suspicions are confirmed - there are no cool things out there with horses on them. calling all designers! here are a few that i found........including one of my suppliers who's horse tapestry turned cushion turned up on my google search! wow...there are really some hideous things out there with horse motif's! these are cool though.
