as i mentioned below, valentine's day is the day that all girls want to be made to feel feminine, loved and appreciated, and you achieve this by spoiling us with gifts, cake, flowers and a romantic dinner. jamie oliver suggests this chocolate love cake for 'the blokes' to make for their lady loves. trust me, there is no more powerful aphrodisiac than a man who present us with gooey chocolate cake that he baked himself! we'd love you to buy us a bunch of flowers that is as unique as we are, or perhaps a flowering pot plant, so we'll always think of you when we see it in our garden. i'd suggest booking dinner anywhere in kalk bay, where there is always magic in the air or perhaps a seaside brunch, as valentines day is on sunday this year. whatever you do, have fun and remember to spoil all the women in your life this valentines day.

the boyfriend shopping guide

girls ~ have you left a link to your favourite heart necklaces or porcelain cups, lying around on your boyfriend's facebook pages yet? well here's your chance! or bring them into the store on saturday and get them to buy you a pretty party dress and some other heart things if they're still in stock! and boys, this is how you do it: flowers first thing when you see us, hand us a gift and say you're taking us out or preparing a chocolate infused dinner for us at your place. for this we will love you. for this we will cherish you. good luck! xxx

doughnuts are good for you

after an important stop to hunt to have coffee, chat and gather mini doughnuts for our sales assistants at olympia bakery, i spent all morning yesterday at the shop, playing with the oversized doll's house. this is one of our sales assistants wearing a cute folklore dress. we're trying to do the folklore fashion shoot this weekend, so look out for that!

what's cookin' good lookin'?

this is how good looking mythology & co got, overnight. seriously, the owner's of mythology & co know how to pull a shop together! apparently people have been walking in and cooing. all of us have a little space inside this larger shop space and here are some pics of the things you can find here. my space won't be complete for a few more days but you can still find some of your favourite beatnik things on the shelves. remember that we're in the old cape to cairo shop, almost opposite cape to cuba at 100 main road, kalk bay.

a present for my new shop

my skermunkil jewellery supplier, marietjie, just dropped me an email to tell me that she is going to give me this little birdcage display to hang her necklaces in for the new shop. my shop got a tear in its eye and hugged her. have you ever seen anything so beautiful in all your life? thank you marietjie and rory!

exsqueeze me. lime?

yup, this is the lime powder coat finish and it is my favourite. i'm giving these to my friend for her birthday tonight and she has never seen them in my shop cos they only arrived in the shop today and they will go straight into her gorgeous kitchen, i suspect, with skinny laminx tea towels from beatnik bazaar hanging from them! they are r65 each or r120 for a pair and all the metal hooks and branch hooks etc come in this lovely lime colour too.

buttons better than candy

my new favourite blogger's pet is 'button candy,' one of the most gorgeous blogs on the interweb. the author of the blog, jo, loves buttons so much, that i think she may have even sought out a support group for button lovers at some point! thank you for the pretty blog, jo!

a time for hooking up

check out these rad new hooks i bought for the shop. i had no idea how huge the long coat hooks were until i collected them. hello coat hanger! and how gorgeous are these bird, fawn and bunny hooks? animal hooks ~ R65 each. small coat hook ~ R185. large coat hook ~ R450. available in lime, chocolate, red, white, silver, muted blue, muted green and black. my son kindly held the hooks up to illustrate their size.
